Use Items as the Player's Sprite

This requires my Player Coordinates to be implemented into your level already.

Also, it only works well on single-color backgrounds, unless somebody finds a way to make the player invisible.

Step 1:
After you've set up the Player Coordinates, completely cover the player with an item in the "Mid Front Items" layer. Tag it "player". Make sure it is completely the same color of the background you will be using. In this example, that color is black.

The player is behind that black square.

Step 2:
Find the item(s) you want to use as the sprite. Tag them "player". Put them right over the actual player, while remaining in the "Mid Front Items" layer. In this example, we will be using a tree.

Step 3:
Change the background to the appropriate color, then test the level. The sprite should now move with the player.

Congratulations. You are now a tree. :3The next few steps will focus on changing the direction of the sprite based on the direction the player is facing. You can skip them if you don't care about that.

Step 4:
Now that you have your sprite moving with the player, we'll focus on changing the direction of the sprite.
